  • Detailed Itinerary:

    Day 1
    Arrive in Siem Reap, Cambodia (Angkor Wat). Afternoon group orientation


    Arrive in the small and incredibly friendly town of Siem Reap, Cambodia. If you purchased airport transfers from us, you are met and greeted at the airport and transferred to the group hotel. Airport arrival instruction will be emailed to you as part of the comprehensive Pre-Departure Dossier we will send you about 3 weeks in advance of the trip.

    The trip officially begins with an early evening group orientation meeting held at the hotel (details provided before departure). Here you will get a chance to meet your GEC Local Guide, as well as all of your fellow travel companions for what is sure to be the beginning of many great friendships!

    Day 2
    ALC 2 Days Touring Angkor Wat


    The town of Siem Reap is our base for visiting the UNESCO World Heritage temples of the ancient city of Angkor, and a runner up for one of the 7 Wonders of the World. Built as the capital of the powerful Khmer Empire dating from 802 AD to 1350 AD, this stunning and extensive site sprawls through the dense jungle over an area of 60 square miles. Today's ALC option is the start of 2 full days of guided tours of Angkor Wat and the surrounding ancient temples with an experienced local guide. This is a tour you certainly don't want to miss! If you did not purchase this ALC option, the you are free to explore the area on your own.

    ALC Continued Tour of Angkor Wat


    Today's ALC option is a continuation of the guided tours of Angkor Wat and the surrounding ancient temples with an experienced local guide. If you did not purchase this ALC option, the you are free to explore the area on your own.

    Day 4
    Fly Siem Reap to Phuket, Thailand


    Today you will take a short flight from Siem Reap (Ankor Wat) to the famous Thai beach island of Phuket. After transferring and checking into the hotel, the day is yours to relax and enjoy the famous Thailand beaches with its warm and crystal clear waters. At night, be sure to join your fellow group members out on the town for dinner and experience the famous nightlife of the Patong Beach area!

    Day 5
    ALC Koh Phi Phi Islands Snorkel & Boat Tour


    Today's ALC option is another "must see" location. Getting an early start, you will witness one of the most spectacular sights in Asia; a boat ride through the legendary islands off Phuket, including snorkeling and a possible stop or cruise by of Koh Phi Phi Ley, where the movie "The Beach" with Leonardo DiCaprio was filmed.

    Departing from Phuket, we will take an exciting speed boat ride across the crystal-clear waters of the Andaman Sea, stopping along the way to snorkel in the beautiful and warm waters in possible places such as Bamboo Island and Monkey Bay. And depending on the Thai Government’s rules at the time of visit (they close and open it for environmental protect reasons without notice), there’s a chance you’ll also be able to enter or at least cruise by the mind-blowingly beautiful, nearly enclosed lagoon of Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi Ley Island. Surrounded on all sides by towering limestone cliffs and punctuated with aqua blue waters that are warmer than the air, the stunning beauty of this national park island is unsurpassed. It is truly one of the great destinations on earth.

    Following lunch and snorkeling we return to Phuket. Should you not choose this ALC option, today is a leisure day to spend as you like. Visit the beautiful beaches of Phuket with the white sands and warm waters, relax at the hotel pool, do some shopping around town, etc.

    Day 6
    ALC Thai Cooking Class


    Take the morning to enjoy the famous Thailand beaches with its warm and crystal-clear waters. Later in the day, why not join the group for the ALC option of a Thai cooking class! During the class you'll not only learn some local cooking tricks of the trade that you can bring home to impress your friends, but you'll also get to enjoy a delicious Thai meal that you cooked all on your own!

    Day 7
    Fly Phuket to Bangkok, Thailand


    Today we will first take a short flight from Phuket to Bangkok. Upon arrival, your local guide will transfer you to the hotel for check-in and can provide excellent ideas so you can explore the exciting and vibrant city of Bangkok with your fellow travel mates.

    Day 8
    ALC Thai Floating Markets Day Tour


    Today's ALC is a guided tour of a traditional Thai floating market. In the morning, we will travel with our local guide from Bangkok to the north to visit the one of the most popular floating markets of Thailand; Damnernsaduak Floating Market. Here we will have a chance to wander the market on foot and hire a paddle boat to explore the colorful market like a local. Our boat ride will also allow us to see, up close, the lifestyles of the local people who live along the small canals. We will return back to the hotel in the afternoon, giving you plenty of free time to shop, get a famous Thai massage, and/or check out the city further. For those not joining this optional ALC tour, then today is a free day to send at your leisure.

    Day 9
    Fly Bangkok to Kathmandu, Nepal


    At the appointed time, you will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to the airport for the group flight to Kahtmandu, Nepal. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by your local guide and transferred in a private vehicle to the group hotel near the heart of the exotic, energetic Thamel neighborhood, a hub for climbers, trekkers and tourist alike. Your local guide will provide you with all the details about this amazing, fun and vibrant city.

    Tonight, enjoy an optional night out in this awesome town with your fellow group members. There are loads a delicious restaurants and fun bars to choose from all within walking distance of each other.

    Day 10
    ALC Kathmandu City & Temples Tour


    Today's ALC is a guided tour through the exotic city of Kathmandu. Your local guide will introduce you to the magic of this amazing city and its peaceful Buddhist culture. The tour will include many interesting attractions such as the old Royal Palaces in Durbar Square, the Hindu temple of Pashupatinath and Buddhist temple of Swayambhunath. Should you forgo this ALC tour, then the day is yours to explore the town of Kathmandu on your own.

    Day 11
    Nagarkot Hill Station for Himalaya & Mt. Everest Sunset Viewing


    Today starts an included tour with the goal of witnessing the mighty Himalayan Mountains. In the early afternoon we’ll take a drive to Nagarkot (7,200 ft), a hill station near Kathmandu that is famous for sunset and sunrise viewing over the mighty Himalayan Mountains... including Mt. Everest. Located 28 miles (45kms) north east of Kathmandu it’s about a 1.3 hours drive through the Nepalese countryside. In the evening we’ll enjoy the beautiful sunset view on the Himalayan Mountains. Tonight we’ll stay at a local hotel in Nagarkot so that we can enjoy a morning sunrise view.

    Nagarkot Hiking Option: If you are up for it, you can choose to trek the 2 to 3 hours up to Nagarkot along an ancient trail. The trail passes through Tamang Buddhist Villages and, if weather is favorable, is highlighted with views of the Kathmandu valley and the distant snowcapped Himalayan Mountains. Your luggage (and those who prefer not to hike) will be taken up to Nagarkot in our vehicle.

    *NOTE: Himalayan sunsets and sunrises are unpredictable and subject to favorable weather and viewing conditions.

    Day 12
    Sunrise Over Himalayan Mts. & Everest. Return Kathmandu


    Rise early to enjoy the famous sunrise over the Himalaya! After breakfast, we’ll start making our way back to Kathmandu. Along the way we’ll stop for a couple of hours for a guided visit of the famous city of Bhaktapur. One of the most attractive, clean and ancient cities in the Kathmandu valley, Bhaktapur is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we’ll visit many pagodas, a palace, the Golden Temple (the tallest temple of Nepal), farmer villages, and hear about local traditions during our guided walk. After an optional lunch, we’ll then return to our hotel in Kathmandu.

    The remainder of the day and evening are at leisure to enjoy all of the wonderful things that Kathmandu has to offer. In addition to great restaurants, shops, souvenir markets, and inexpensive massages designed for trekkers returning from long and strenuous hikes, Kathmandu is a great place to buy low-priced trekking and outdoor supplies such as extremely inexpensive, yet quality warm weather clothing, sleeping bags, backpacks, snacks, etc.

    Day 13
    Leisure Day Kathmandu


    Today is a leisure day to enjoy all of the wonder things that Kathmandu has to offer. In additional to great restaurants, shops, souvenir markets, and inexpensive massages designed for trekkers returning from long and strenuous hikes, Kathmandu is a great place to buy low-priced trekking and outdoor supplies such as extremely inexpensive, yet quality warm weather clothing, sleeping bags, snacks, etc.

    This evening, why not join your fellow group members for an optional last night out to celebrate the many memories and friends made on this amazing trip!

    Day 14
    Trip Ends


    Today your GEC group trip officially ends in the morning. If you purchased airport transfers through us, then you are picked up at the hotel at the appointed time and transferred to the airport.

    This is a locally guided GEC small group trip that is open for anyone to join. You can sign up as a solo traveler* OR join with a spouse, friends or other family members. All are welcome!
    *Solo Travelers: You're in luck! No mandatory single supplements. We provide free roommate matching - unless, of course, you'd prefer a single room which you can purchase during checkout.


    This tour requires a total minimum group size of 4 people to run. Please DO NOT purchase your airfare or any personal travel requirements until you receive a written confirmation of guaranteed departure.

    This trip Starts in Siem Reap, Cambodia and ends in Kathmandu, Nepal. Please book your flights accordingly as per the itinerary. Should you have any questions and/or if you would like advice on how to find the best flights, please contact us.

    Prices are based on double occupancy in twin rooms. If you would like your own hotel room, please choose the optional single room supplement at check out. If you do not mind being paired up with a roommate of the same gender, then the single supplement does not apply.

    All deposits and payments include the cost of your inter-country group airfare and a $750 standard deposit. Once your trip is booked and the trip is guaranteed to depart, the airfare costs are non-refundable and the standard cancellation policy applies to the standard deposit. Full payment is due at least 100 days before departure.

    All optional “A La Carte” (ALC) activities must be purchased at least 30 days before departure and are based on a minimum of 2 people per activity. ALC activities are NOT available for purchase in country.

    This is a locally run and guided trip that is open to anyone. It is an exciting and active trip that is constantly on the go exploring the best of Asia and covering lots of area, yet with plenty of time for relaxation. To achieve this affordable price, this trip uses specific guides in each individual country who will be available for the group in each destination from airport arrival to airport drop off and on all organized tours. Upon arrival in the next destination, the group will be met by their new guide for that particular country.

    VISAS for citizens of most western countries including the US and Canada (please always ensure that you confirm the latest requirements with the embassies for your country of citizenship):

  • Cambodia Visas are obtained on entry into the country at the airport for a cost of about US$30. A passport size/style photo is also required (be sure to have 2 in your carry-on bag).
  • Thailand Visa not required
  • Nepal Visas are obtained on entry into the country at the airport for a cost of about US$25. A passport size/style photo is sometimes required (be sure to have 2 in your carry-on bag).

      Fall a fantastic time to travel to Asia, as the weather is great, but without the heavy prime travel crowds. Throughout the trip expect average daily highs ranging from as low as 60F (15C) in Nepal to around 80F (26C) or more in the remaining destinations. Evening can see a bit cooler temperatures.
