Day 2:
Food Walking Tour of Bangkok (B, L)

In the early afternoon, we will start our food exploration of Thailand with an afternoon walking tour of some of Bangkok’s famous food areas. The best way to fast-track your understanding of a city's cuisine is to embark on a guided walking tour that takes you on a local food sampling spree. With your local guide, you’ll tuck into amazing areas of street food stalls; meet local Thai & Chinese chefs, and encounter local producers at markets. What will you visit and taste? Some things might include Tha-Prajan pier, next to Grand Palace, for a dish of Spicy lemongrass flavoured flat noodles with pork & fish balls, special squid cakes, yellow curry with beef or chicken, garlic bread & Oliang juice (Chinese coffee). Cross over Chao Phraya River to Rachawong pier by a local ferry to try exquisite dishes such as; “Nam Rak-Bua” Healthy Chinese Herb juice & Thai-Japanese pancakes. Walk through Yaowarat area which is popular for its gold and authentic Chinese feel (China Town). Taste boiled Chinese pasta squares with crispy pork, “Jab-Gung”- Chinese noodle with pork or chicken, “Pae-Guay”-Chinese desserts & fresh coconut juices and many more.. We will return back to the hotel in the late afternoon with plenty of time check out the city at night with your fellow travel mates.

Today why not join the group for the guided optional half day trip to a traditional Thai floating market. In the morning, we will travel with a local guide from Bangkok to the north to visit the one of the most popular floating markets of Thailand; Damnernsaduak Floating Market. Here we will have a chance to wander the market on foot and hire a paddle boat to explore the colorful market like a local. Our boat ride will also allow us to see, up close, the lifestyles of the local people who live along the small canals. We will return back to the hotel in the afternoon, giving us plenty of free time to shop, get a famous Thai massage, and/or check out the city further. For those not joining the optional tour, then today is a free day to send at your leisure.

In the early afternoon we continue our exploration of Thailand famous food scene with a 4 hour set menu Thai cooking class at the famous Baipai Thai Cooking School! Baipai is an ideal home-style cooking school, located away from the crowded streets, in Bangkok’s residential area. A charming two story house with wooden décor and locally styled furnishings, it is a tranquil , cozy and relaxing atmosphere to learn the art of Thai cooking.

You'll learn in a traditional Thai opened-air kitchen that is, clean, professional and set up to ensure your cooking comfort. Each student will have their own cooking station, specifically equipped and designed to enhance your cooking experience. Baipai's cooking courses are conducted in English by Thai professionals, and appropriate for anyone from beginners to experienced cooks.

The experienced teachers will guide you through a session of a “completely hands-on" fun-filled course with an emphasis on the art of fine Thai cooking in a relaxed social environment. The river and canals can conveniently be explored by public transport or via a traditional long tailed boat. OR for those who are continuing to Cambodia on the optional Angkor Wat trip extension, transfer to the airport for our group flight (see below).

OPTIONAL: 3 day, 2 night Trip Extension (Angkor Wat Cambodia)

Day 1:
Fly Bangkok to Siem Reap. Visit Angkor. Evening dinner show. (B)

With an early start, we will fly from Bangkok to the Cambodian city of Siem Reap. The town of Siem Reap is our base for visiting the world famous temples of the ancient city Angkor, which was the capital of the powerful Khmer Empire dating from 802 AD to 1350 AD. This stunning and extensive site sprawls through the dense jungle over an area of 60 square miles.

Upon arriving, we will spend the day exploring the wondrous ancient ruins starting with Angkor Wat; the crowning jewel of Khmer architecture and the national symbol and highlight of any visit to Cambodia. To approach the temple, first cross the vast moat, continuing along a broad causeway lined with naga balustrades. On the way, stop to enjoy the intricate stone carvings that adorn nearly every surface, with some 1,700 Apsaras, or celestial dancers, sculpted into the walls. Along the outer gallery walls run the longest continuous bas-relief in the world, which narrates stories from Hindu mythology, including the famous Churning of the Ocean of Milk were we will enjoy a sunset view before return to our hotel.

Day 2:
Full day visit to Angkor. (B)

Today we will enjoy a full day tour of the Angkor complex, starting with the jungle covered temple of Ta Prohm. At this incredible and famous sight, there are enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers which embrace themselves in the stone foundations of the structure giving the impression of man's creation being reclaimed by the powerful forces of nature. We explore this masterpiece as well as many other of the surrounding temples and buildings.

Overnight in Siem Reap

Day 3:
AM Tonle Sap Lake Boat Tour. Trip ends. (B)

After breakfast, we embark on a boat based tour of Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia’s largest natural water body. The experience is wonderful as we stop at floating villages accessible only by boat and meet friendly children in small boats and fishermen at work. We return to the hotel in late morning/early afternoon (around noon or so).

Trip ends upon return to the hotel. Make your own way via taxi to the airport for your flight home (hotel can arrange) OR you can take the complementary transfer to the airport which departs the hotel soon after returning from the tour.
