-------------------------------------------------------------------------

TRIP DESCRIPTION:

The group will travel September 10-16, 2017.

*With optional 3 day Amazon Rainforest trip extension immediately following the trip (September 16 - 18, 2017)!

NOTE: if you prefer to trek to Machu Picchu, then why not join one of the Global Expeditions Club trekking group trips to Machu Picchu (July 22 - 29, 2017 OR September 9 - 16, 2017 --- both with an optional 3 day Amazon extension). CLICK HERE for details.

A classic 'must do' for any adventure traveler, join the Global Expeditions Club on this locally guided non-trekking group tour that travels from Cusco, goes deep into the heart of the scenic Sacred Valley and then continues down the eastern slopes of the Andes to Machu Picchu.

Surrounded by the towering snowcapped Andes Mountains you'll travel down the valley visiting the Pisac Market, quaint villages, the ancient Incan ruins of Ollantaytambo, and perhaps even stopping for a chance to feed and pet some Llamas and Alpacas.

You'll then take a train from the Sacred Valley and follow the river through the steep valley to reach Aguas Calientes, a fantastic little town nearby the ancient Incan city of Machu Picchu. Being right in town, you'll have the opportunity to take one of the first shuttles up to the famous ruins, thus avoiding the late morning rush of visitors. After a 2 hour tour of Machu Picchu with your expert local guide, you'll have the remainder of the day free to explore one of the 7 Wonders of the World! Following an additional night in Aguas Calientes, you'll then journey back to Cusco via the picturesque Vistadome train. This truly is an adventure that just can't be missed.

Want to continue your trip? Why not join others from the trip on an optional 3 day Amazon Rainforest trip extension (September 16-18, 2017)!

CLICK HERE for details and to book.

*** NOTE: when booking your Amazon extension, please choose the appropriate departure date of September 16-18, 2017:

Seasonal Info
  • The best months to visit Machu Picchu are in the dry season from May to September when the conditions are fairly dry and the weather generally sunny. Of course you may see some rain during the dry season so you will need to prepare accordingly, but generally it is quite nice. The dry cool nights also provide for some amazing star gazing of the southern stars!
