This serene and dramatic tropical island is blessed with soaring lush mountains, pristine beaches, stunning landscapes, incredible coffee from local plantations, delicious exotic fruits, picturesque rice terraces, and an always smiling local people whose culture stems from the peaceful teachings of Hinduism and Buddhism.

Day 1: Arrive in Bali.
Day 2: Optional Elephant Safari Day Trip. (B)

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1:
Arrive in Bali.

Arrive at the designated hotel and spend the remainder of the day enjoying the beach, the wonderful local town and the nightlife. If you purchased airport transfers through us, then you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. In the late afternoon, meet your fellow group members at the Trip Orientation Meeting (details to be provided in a Pre-Departure Dossier sent about 3 weeks before departure). Later, why not join your fellow group members out for dinner and a night out on the town.

Day 2:
Optional Elephant Safari Day Trip. (B)

Today why not join the group on an optional Elephant Safari day trip. After breakfast, we’ll arrive at the Elephant Park after a short transfer from the hotel. Here the park guide will welcome and guide us to meet the Sumatran elephants. We’ll have chance to hand feed and take pictures with them as well as learn about the park history. After spending a bit of time with the elephants, we take an exciting 30 minutes ride. The elephant trek takes us through the well protected jungle atop the friendly mammals and you can get to know them better through their Mahout (lifelong trainer) followed by an Elephant Talent show.

After the show we’ll enjoy a sumptuous lunch buffet at the park restaurant continued by free time to explore the parks facilities such as the elephant museums or to take more pictures with them. We return to the hotel in mid-afternoon.

If you don’t choose the optional activity, then today is a free day to enjoy the hotel and surrounding area. Spend the day at the beach or explore the fun and vibrant town of Kuta. Rent a surfboard and take a lesson for a couple of bucks, take a diving or snorkeling trip, join a sea kayaking tour, go shopping in town, sit at a beach side bar, or simply relax at the beach. Regardless, life is good!

Day 3:
South Bali to Ubud. (B, L)

After breakfast, we are picked up from our hotel by our local guide, who is an expert in all things Bali, and depart for Ubud. En-route, we'll make stops at Batubulan village to watch the famous Barong Dance, the Celuk village of gold and silver smiths and Mas, the village of woodcarving artists. Drive through Goa Gajah, Petulu village and take a short walk through picturesque rice fields, followed by lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch continue the trip to Ubud market and the Royal Palace Puri Saren before heading to the hotel.

Day 4:
Ubud to Candidasa. (B, L)

Starting at around 08.30, our local guide will pick us up at the hotel and we’ll head to Kehen Temple in Bangli. This Hindu temple is located in the high land overlooking the beautiful view. Then drive to Kertagosa village, once a place for the administration of traditional justice in pre-colonial times. Continue the journey to Kusamba and visit the local fisherman village and fish market where salty fish are being produced.

Next stop is Goa Lawah, the famous bat cave which was built back in the 11th century. Inside the cave, you will find thousands of bats hanging down from the ceiling as well as holy python snakes that often appear around the cave. After that, visit Tenganan village where Southeast Asia’s finest textile art is produced. After lunch at a local restaurant, we'll stop at the unique Karangasem Palace, followed by a visit to Tirta Gangga; the royal water garden. Afterward drive to Candidasa for check in at the hotel.

Day 5:
Candidasa to Lovina. (B, L)

After breakfast enjoy the scenic drive from Selat all the way to Duda and Rendang village to finally reach Besakih via Nonga. We will make a stop at Kintamani to have lunch at Grand Puncak Sari restaurant. After lunch, we'll continue our journey to Kubu Tambahan and visit Ratu Meduwe Karang Temple on the way. Drive through Sangsit Pura Beji, before we reach the old town of Singaraja-Lovina.

Day 6:
Lovina to South Bali. (B, L)

After breakfast we'll make a visit to the famous Banjar Hot Springs, then continue via Munduk Waterfall to Bedugul, along the way passing the beautiful Lake Tamblingan, Buyan. Bedugul is an attractive mountain resort located 850m above sea level. Serene Lake Beratan fills the ancient crater of Mount Batukaru. Ulun Danu on the water’s edge, is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of the waters.

We'll then visit a fruit market to taste the many exotic local fruits and then take lunch at Saranam Eco Tourism Restaurant. After lunch, continue to Tanah Lot. Later we say good bye to our Local Guide as we return to our hotel back in Kuta, where we started the trip, to again enjoy the famous beaches of Bali; an amazing way to end this amazing trip.

Day 7:
Leisure day at beach. (B)

Today is a free day to spend at the beach or to explore the fun and vibrant town of Kuta with your new found friends before catching your flight home the following morning. Rent a surfboard and take a lesson for a couple of bucks, take a diving or snorkeling trip, join a sea kayaking tour, do some last minute shopping, or simply relax at the beach.

Day 8:
Trip ends. (B)

Trip ends after breakfast. If you purchased airport transfers through us, then you are picked up at the hotel and transferred to the airport to catch your flight home.

Important Information

This tour requires a total minimum group size to run. You are responsible for making your own international flight arrangements between your home city and Denpasar, Bali airport (code: DPS) as per the itinerary. However, flights SHOULD NOT be booked until you receive a written guarantee that the Land Only portion of your trip has been fully booked. Please contact us or the Global Expeditions Club with questions and/or if you would like advice or help on booking your flights.

Prices are based on double occupancy. If you would like your own hotel room, please choose the optional single supplement at check out. If you do not mind being paired up with a roommate of the same gender AND we can match you up, then the single supplement does not apply.

This is a locally guided GEC group trip that is open for anyone to join.

At the time of printing, a 30 day Visa can be obtained on arrival at the airport for about US$35 for citizens of the US and Canada. Please be sure to check with the Indonesian embassy in the US (or your country of citizenship) before the trip to ensure that this is still the case.

  • The island of Bali is generally warm and tropical, with showers possible at any time throughout the year. Temperatures range from mid to high 80's F (30C) during the day and low to mid 60's F (18C) at night. It is always 10 +/-degrees cooler in the central mountain areas.
