2015 Group Departure Dates:
- October 20 - 30, 2015
-- Optional Tibet Group Trip the week before (Oct 8-20)

"Incredible views and peaceful culture" best describes this famous and relatively "easy" Himalayan trek to the popular Poon Hill. At only about 32 total miles in 5 days of trekking to about 10,500 feet, plus visiting Kathmandu and Pokhara, this trip is a great way to witness incredible views, experience the thrills of trekking in Nepal, and to enjoy a guided exploration of exotic Nepal.

This trek is ideal for those travelers seeking to experience the wonders of the Himalaya at an incredible price. While definitely requiring you to be in good enough shape to hike for 5 days, the Poon Hill trek is suited for both beginners and those with some hiking experience. Best of both worlds… see the spectacular and highest peaks in the world but at an altitude that is suitable for everyone.

Begin the tour in the vibrant and exciting city of Kathmandu exploring ancient temples, Buddhist stupas and the boutique shops that make this exhilarating Nepalese capital a must for exotic souvenirs and inexpensive trekking gear.

We then travel through Nepal’s countryside and off the beaten path villages to reach the lakeside town of Pokhara set in the foothills of the Himalaya. From here we set off on the 5 day trek with our Sherpa guide and porters. After starting off in Rhododendron forests we hike our way through quaint Nepalese villages only accessible on foot via winding trails and cobbled paths. Along the way you will witness incredible views of snowcapped mountains and enjoy a breathtaking sunrise on top of the famous Poon Hill as it reflects the morning glow across the whole of the Annapurna Mountain Range. As you enjoy the local culture, witness Yaks carrying supplies between local villages, and breathe in the fresh, clean air of the roof of the world.

When you return to Kathmandu, why not indulge yourself with one of Kathmandu's famous and inexpensive post-trek-massages... a 'must do' treat regularly experienced by many of the travelers who trek among these amazing mountains.

The tour will include many interesting attractions including the old Royal Palaces in Durbar Square, the Hindu temple of Pashupatinath and Buddhist temple of Swayambhunath.

The afternoon is a great time to pick up any last minute personal equipment you may need. Kathmandu is a great place to buy supplies for your trek, such as extremely inexpensive, yet quality warm weather clothing, sleeping bags, snacks, etc. Get a good night of sleep tonight, as tomorrow starts your trek to Poon Hill and the Annapurna Region!

Day 3:
Drive Kathmandu to Pokhara (B)

In the morning you will take a picturesque drive from Kathmandu to the town of Pokhara via private car. The afternoon is free to explore this peaceful lakeside town and its wonderful views of the mighty Annapurna range, including Machhapuchhre Mountain (a.k.a. Fish Tail Mountain), considered by many to be one of the most beautiful mountains in the world.

Day 4:
Pokhara to Naya Pul and Trek to Tikhedhunga (6,905 feet - 4 hours - 5.8 miles) (B, L, D)

Day 7:
Tatopani to Ghandrung (6,365 feet - 4 hours - 4.5 miles) (B, L, D)
