After breakfast, we take a full day tour of Fez with our local guide. Fez is the oldest of the imperial cities, home of the oldest university of the country, and is Morocco's leading cultural and religious center. Founded in 789, Fez is one of the oldest and largest medieval cities in the world; a city that is almost unchanged through the modern ages and still most definitely alive. History has provided the city with long periods of hardship, but Fez has never died. Today it has its own culture, pride, art and even cuisine. In Fez, we will visit the medieval Medina, the Medersas, The Karaouine, and the Nejjarine fountains. We will also explore the celebrated Souks where craftsmen still labor in the age old oriental tradition.

This morning we make our way to Marrakech passing over the beautiful Atlas Mountains, through the Berber village of Immouzer du Kandar, stopping at the resort town of Ifrane (located high in the Atlas Mountains), and taking our lunch in Beni Mellal, one of the agricultural centres of Morocco. We arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.

After breakfast, we will spend the entire day with our local guide exploring Marrakech, the second Imperial City and definitely the Pearl of the south. Marrakech sits in a lush Oasis nestled at the foot of the snowcapped Atlas Mountain. We will visit the famous Saadien Tombs, the Dar Si Said Museum, the Koutoubia Tower and the Bahia Palace.

After lunch we will visit of the Souks and the medina, an exciting and exotic labyrinth where small shops are lined one next to the other selling Moroccan handicrafts. Feeling as if time has stopped here, the Souks are bustling with shoppers buying their goods and the craftsmen working in the most traditional ways. We will then visit the famous Djemaa El Fna Square, a unique square filled with animated jugglers, story-tellers, snake-charmers, and many other show men who entertain the crowds. Here we will have free time to stroll among the locals. It'll be an exciting day and certainly one of the highlights of the trip!
