Tonight, start your trip off right by joining the group for an optional dinner in Sorrento.

Day 2
Guided tour of the Amalfi Coast (B)

Starting the day off after breakfast, we head out on a guided tour of the spectacular seaside towns of Positano, Amalfi and other spectacular viewing spots. We'll travel along the famed coastal road that hugs the steep cliffs and boasts dramatic views. The ride is a thrill and the these amazing towns are among the most beautiful you will find anywhere in the world!

In the evening we’ll head out into town again with our fellow club members.

Day 3
Optional Day Trip to the Isle of Capri (B)

No trip to the Amalfi Coast is truly complete without a visit to the posh and dramatic Isle of Capri! A vacation home to many of the world's rich and famous, spectacular cliff side houses, incredible views, and a quaint town center, Capri is easily a destination of its own.

Following breakfast, if you choose this optional tour, we will take a ferry ride from Sorrento to Capri. You’ll have a chance to see the stunning Isle of Capri from the sea, then have a full day to explore Capri on your own with your fellow group members or via the optional guided tour. And if the weather and sea conditions are cooperating, you can also hire a local guide to take you on the short boat ride to visit the famous Blue Grotto, a wave carved cave that glows a brilliant cobalt blue in the beautiful waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

For those who don’t choose this optional trip, then today is a free day to spend as you like.

Day 4
Optional "Path of the Gods" Hike (6 +/- hours total including 3.5 hours hiking) (B)

Today is your opportunity to take in part of the Amalfi Coast by foot and enjoy one of the best hikes in Italy with this optional guided hike along the scenic "Path of the Gods" trail. You’ll take in the incredible views overlooking the Amalfi Coast as you hike with an expert local guide about 4 miles (6km) along the cliffs from the hillside town of Nocelle to the hillside town of Bomerano, gaining about 1,000 feet (300m) from start to finish. While challenging, the hike isn’t technical and is suitable for anyone in decent shape and comfortable walking on uneven surfaces. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water, appropriate clothing, sunscreen and definitely your camera!

Round trip transportation between Sorrento and Nocelle and Bomerano is included, making this about a 6 +/- hour total trip.

For those who don’t choose this optional trip, then today is a free day to spend as you like.

Day 5
Group Trip to Pompeii & Mt Vesuvius (B)

Today we change things up just a bit by going back in time with a group trip to the nearby ancient city of Pompeii (entrance fee extra and payable in cash at the Pompeii entrance – about EUR 11) and, if weather allows, a visit to Mt Vesuvius, the only active volcano in mainland Europe. Located at the foot of Mt Vesuvius Volcano, Pompeii was completely and immediately covered by volcanic ash when Mt Vesuvius unexpected erupted in AD 79, instantly preserving the city and many of its inhabitants. With our local expert guide, we’ll explore the excavated remains of this famous archeological site, visiting the Forum, Thermal Baths, Lupanare and Vetti's House. Please note that the guided tour of Pompeii is included, but the entrance fee to Pompeii is not included and is payable in cash at the entrance to Pompeii for about EUR 13 if you wish to participate in the tour. Additionally, the entrance to Vesuvius is EUR 10 per person.

After Pompeii, if the weather is appropriate, we’ll drive in the group bus about 3,000 feet (1,000m) up the side of Mt Vesuvius where you’ll will have the chance to hike to the top of one of the most imposing volcanos in Italy. From the top of the cone during the days of good visibility, the view is breathtaking and you can see the entire Bay of Naples, the city of Naples five miles to the west and the excavation of Pompeii to the south. You can also see steam actively venting from the crater of this still active volcano. The hike to the top takes about 15 – 30 minutes and is relatively easy. The trail is wide with rocky switchbacks. The hike is about 1/2 mile long (850m) and the elevation gain is a modest 200 feet (60m). The weather on top can be quite different from down below, so be sure to take several layers of warmer clothes, water and your camera.

Day 6
Optional Guided Naples Walking Tour (B)

Today is a free day to spend as you like. You may want to venture off with other group members to relax in one of the numerous cafes that dot the beautiful city of Sorrento, take in some of Italy's famous shopping, or even take a local bus or ferry and further explore one or many of the Amalfi Coast towns. Later, spend the day Italian style; stop by a local specialty shop and pick up a bottle of local wine, cheese, bread and olives and spend the day in leisure down on the rocky beach (your guide can show you a great ‘secret’ location). Your Trip Leader will have many ideas for you.

OR today you can take part in the optional guided walking tour of Naples. After being picked up at the hotel, you’ll travel with your guide to Naples, the beating heart of Southern Italy. Your guide will lead you by several historical sites, including the city center, the Duomo (Cathedral), San Lorenzo, and the famous Spaccanapoli. You’ll also have a chance to sample Naples’ famous coffee and pizza before heading back to Sorrento. Please note: suggested visits (not included) are Santa Chiara cloister (6 €), The Veiled Christ (7 € ), and Basilica San Lorenzo Maggiore (9 €).

Either way, be sure to join your new found friends in the evening for our last night out together as a group!
