Places Visited:

Costa Rica, Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna, Lake Arenal, Manuel Antonio National Park, Penas Blancas River, San Jose

Trip Itinerary:
Day 1
La Fortuna

After meeting and picking you up at the airport, you will travel by private shuttle through beautiful rolling hills to your hotel in La Fortuna, the heart of Costa Rica's eco and adventure zone.

Day 2
La Fortuna

Start off the day with a visit to the Proyecto Asis Animal rescue center where you have the opportunity to see animals up close and learn about their programs to rehabilitate the animals and release them back into the wild. This will be followed by a visit to the Finca Luna Nueva organic farm and its "sacred seed sanctuary." In the afternoon you’ll head out on a short jungle trek guided by a local naturalist. After the trek you can see one of the world's most famous volcanoes. The evening brings the much anticipated chance to relax in the Baldi Natural hot springs to recover from the day's adventures. (Breakfast and lunch included)

Day 3
La Fortuna

Getting a bright and early start, you'll take a kayak safari. This is an ideal trip for those looking for a peaceful encounter with the plentiful wildlife that abounds along the Penas Blancas River only 25 minutes from the Arenal Volcano. The trip will be lead by a professional bilingual naturalist guide who will assist you as you paddle along a smooth, class-1 river. You'll have the opportunity to spot monkeys, sloths, iguanas, crocodiles and caimans, plus a large variety of species of tropical birds such as the Sunbittern, keel-billed toucan, herons, kingfishers and our favorite the Montezuma Oropendula. In the afternoon and evening, explore the wonderful town of La Fortuna on your own and experience the variety of excellent restaurants that dot this fun town. (Breakfast included)

Day 4
La Fortuna

Today you will enjoy a scenic horseback ride which is done completely on the slopes of Arenal Volcano not on conventional roads (children's saddles are available). In fact, this mountain trail was used many years ago by the pioneers of the region. Cross rivers and beautiful landscapes and admire the Arenal Volcano from a very close perspective. During the ride you will stop at a viewing point where you can clearly see lava from previous eruptions. (Breakfast included)

Day 5
Manuel Antonio National Park

In the morning you will travel to Manuel Antonio National Park, considered by many to have two of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. During your stay at the beach, you can watch an awe inspiring sunset over the Pacific Ocean, explore the National Park, watch the monkeys and wildlife, sign up for an optional surfing lesson, swim in the warm ocean waters, buy some souvenirs from the local craftsmen, or just relax on the beach. Be sure to enjoy the friendly and welcoming local "Tico" nightlife and excellent local restaurants! (Breakfast included)

Day 6 Manuel Antonio National Park

Free day. The day is yours spend as you wish. You can spend the day at the local beach or take the short and picturesque walk through Manuel Antonio National Park and spend the day exploring the two spectacular beaches within the park.

Day 7
Alajuela/San Jose

After a lazy, relaxing morning on the beach you will be picked up at your hotel and travel to your hotel in Alajuela, just on the outskirts of the capital city of San Jose. You'll have one last chance for shopping before catching your flight home the following morning.

Day 8
San Jose & Airport Transfer

Trip ends. You're transferred to the airport to catch your flight home or, even better, continue with another one of our great adventures.
